LaLiga Santander: RFEF change rules and four banned players can now play in first LaLiga Santander matchday

LaLiga Santander Olaza, Olivera, Damian Suarez and Ruibal

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) have decided to change some LaLiga Santander regulations, with players no longer obliged to carry sanctions from the previous season into the new campaign.

This change has the approval of the National Sports Council (CSD) and will positively affect three teams in 2020/21: Real Betis, Getafe and Celta Vigo.

Betis forward Aitor Ruibal will be at Manuel Pellegrini’s disposal for their opener away at Alaves, while Celta left-back Lucas Olaza will be available for their match against Eibar at Ipurua.

Finally, Jose Bordalas will be able to count on Damian Suarez and Mathias Olivera, who were both expected to be suspended for their first game of the campaign at home to Osasuna.

As the new regulations state, any yellow card bans picked up in the previous season will be automatically cancelled when that campaign ends.
