FC Barcelona – La Liga Did not want to discuss Eric Garcia
Joan Laporta is determined to secure another term as president of Barcelona, over 10 years since his last one ended, and he has confirmed he dreams of celebrating Barcelona‘s 125th anniversary with Lionel Messi at the new Camp Nou.
The 58-year-old is clear that keeping Messi at the club is one of his main objectives, should he be elected.
“I would love for the club’s 125th anniversary to coincide with the new Camp Nou and that Lionel Messi is in the team, that’s my dream,” Laporta told Mundo Deportivo.
“I will make him an offer at an economic level within Barcelona‘s capabilities.
“I know that Leo isn’t motivated by money, and I will make him a very competitive sporting proposal, in which he sees himself winning further trophies.”
Barcelona retain an interest in signing Eric Garcia from Manchester City, either in January or on a Bosman deal in the summer, yet Laporta isn’t interested in club business before he is elected.
“It’s a matter that corresponds to the managing board, not to an electoral candidate,” he added.
“They are the ones who have the capacity to make their own decisions based on the powers that are granted to them.
“They surely know what they are doing and will find the formula they consider to be correct; candidates are not in a position to use power that isn’t theirs.”
