FC Barcelona – La Liga Over 10,000 signatures supporting candidacy
Barcelona expect to hold elections to determine the next president of the club on January 24, however this date is subject to change if the COVID-19 situation in Spain worsens, yet candidate Joan Laporta believes that it would be very strange if the elections were suspended.
Laporta presented a list of over 10,000 signatures supporting his candidacy on Monday afternoon, more than double those received by his closest rival, Victor Font.
“We had a lot of confidence in the work our campaign team was doing, It would be very strange if the elections were suspended,” Laporta declared.
“I’ve always been optimistic, I have seen a campaign with a very good atmosphere.
“This result is spectacular, I think the right measures have been taken the protect the elections, there is no objective reason why [they would be delayed].”
