Bertrand made more than 200 appearances for the Saints in all competitions, coming within 90 minutes of helping them to their first piece of silverware this century before suffering late heartbreak against Manchester United in the 2017 EFL Cup final.

Having confirmed he wouldn’t be extending his deal with Southampton earlier this summer, speculation has be rife with regards to who he would be joining, though the Foxes have remained as frontrunners.

And they’ve now taken to their official website to confirm the news of Bertrand’s arrival, revealing the left-back has signed a two-year deal at the King Power Stadium.

“Experienced left-back Ryan Bertrand has signed for Leicester City Football Club on a two-year deal, keeping him at King Power Stadium until at least 2023,” they wrote.

“The 31-year-old joins the Foxes on a free transfer after seven seasons with Southampton, where he made 240 appearances in all competitions.

“An England international with 19 caps, Bertrand made his top-flight debut as a Chelsea player, where he would help the team lift the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and Emirates FA Cup.”

Bertrand himself took the opportunity to express his delight at having signed for the Foxes, saying he’s excited to be joining a club with such lofty ambitions.

“I’m really happy to be here; joining Leicester really complemented my inner ambitions and what I still want to achieve in my career,” he said.

“Leicester have built something amazing over the years, especially since Brendan Rodgers has come in. It’s fantastic to be a part of this fantastic club and I’m going to give my all to try and do the fans proud.”
