Leicester predicted lineup vs Man City – Premier League

Leicester travel to Premier League-leaders Manchester City on Boxing Day, searching for just a second win in six fixtures across all competitions.

Most recently in the league, Brendan Rodgers’ players thrashed Newcastle 4-0 but inconsistency throughout the campaign has limited the Foxes to ninth spot in the table heading into Christmas.

Leicester have seen their previous two league outings postponed due to an increase in Covid-19 cases among the squad but will have to react well to put a Carabao Cup exit in midweek out of mind. A 5-4 penalty shootout defeat to Liverpool after a busy 3-3 draw beforehand saw Rodgers’ side dumped out of the competition at the quarter-final stage.

Now, they face an almost impossible task of beating Pep Guardiola’s ruthless City side, which has won its last eight Premier League matches.

Here’s the side that Rodgers could pick from a depleted squad.

Kasper Schmeichel

Kasper Schmeichel (GK) – Has really failed to reach the form that he’s shown for the majority of the past decade, but he’s firmly this club’s number one.

Caglar Soyuncu (CB) – Appeared to be forced off in Wednesday night’s cup exit but, should he be passed fit to play, he certainly will.

Jannik Vestergaard (CB) – With Jonny Evans a doubt, the big Dane will likely feature at the heart of the back line in what would be just his fifth Premier League start since joining the club in the summer.

Ryan Bertrand (CB) – Came onto the pitch to fill in on the left side of a back three at Anfield in midweek and, with the long list of absentees that Rodgers will likely have on Sunday, he could do so from the outset for this one.

Youri Tielemans

Marc Albrighton (RWB) – Ricardo Pereira was frustratingly forced off through injury before half-time against Liverpool, potentially resulting in Albrighton deputising once more.

Youri Tielemans (CM) –
Returned from a calf injury to notch a brace against Newcastle in the Foxes’ previous league outing, further affirming his sheer quality and importance to the side.

Wilfred Ndidi (CM) –
The Nigerian deputised in central defence on Wednesday night but should be able to return to a more familiar midfield role here.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (CM) – Could keep his place for a third consecutive Premier League game because of other absences.

Luke Thomas (LWB) –
James Justin is definitely out of contention while Timothy Castagne remains a doubt, so Thomas should be set for a fifth successive Premier League start.

James Maddison

James Maddison (SS) – Five goals and six assists in his previous seven appearances makes him the club’s in-form player, and after his special goal in midweek, he’s a sure starter.

Patson Daka (ST) –
Played well last time out, grabbing an assist, and was subbed off in the second half – perhaps to save his energy for this Sunday’s clash. Could be key in Jamie Vardy’s potential absence.
