Man United in advanced Kamara talks

Manchester United have recently been credited with interest in Olympique Marseille’s Boubacar Kamara, and now, according to the Express, the two clubs are in ‘advanced talks’ over a proposed January deal.

United are widely believed to be lacking a proper defensive midfielder, Kamara’s preferred role, with 33-year-old Nemanja Matic the only designated player in that position in their ranks. They’ve been linked with West Ham’s Declan Rice for a long time, but the Hammers apparently want over £100 million for his services. Kamara obviously represents a more reasonable option financially, though he lacks the Premier League experience of the England international.

The 22-year-old has so far made 19 appearances in all competitions for Marseille this season, scoring once. He is a product of the club’s academy, and has never played for any other team yet, apart representing France at every youth level.

Plenty of changes are expected at Old Trafford when it comes to the midfield section over the next two transfer windows. Donny van de Beek is keen to leave, having failed to earn a place in the team. The contract of Paul Pogba expires at the end of the season, and no agreement over a new one has been reached, with Real Madrid reportedly monitoring the situation closely.
