Man Utd expecting formal PSG approach for Paul Pogba

Manchester United officials believe Paris Saint-Germain are readying a formal offer to sign midfielder Paul Pogba this summer.

The 28-year-old has entered the final 12 months of his contract and is stalling on inking an extension, and it was recently suggested that his current plan is to allow his deal to expire to give him more options for his next move.

With Pogba willing to let his deal wind down, long-term admirers PSG have sprung into action and have been plotting a move for the Frenchman, and according to The Telegraph, United officials now believe a formal bid is coming soon.

PSG have been in informal talks with Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, over a possible deal this summer and have clearly been convinced that landing the 28-year-old is a genuine possibility.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino believes a bid of around £43m would be enough to convince United to offload Pogba, but whether that is actually the case is unclear.

It is thought Pogba is still open to extending his stay at United and has not ruled out putting pen to paper on an extension, but keeping Pogba beyond this summer would be an obvious risk for the Red Devils, who could end up losing him for nothing.

Having said that, Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato claims that Pogba is ready to join PSG this summer after lengthy talks between Raiola and club director Leonardo, although he has not given his word to the French side yet.

Pogba is keen to avoid tarnishing his relationship with United, likely because he could decide to stay when all is said and done, and he will not verbally agree to a contract with PSG until after the two clubs have shook hands on a transfer fee.

In the meantime, United are looking at signing a new midfielder, although any new signing would not be a direct replacement for Pogba.

Talks have been held with Rennes over a move for teenage starlet Eduardo Camavinga, who has his heart set on PSG but may find a move to the Parc des Princes is no longer possible if they can land Pogba.
