Man Utd predicted lineup vs Newcastle – Premier League

Manchester United must put their Champions League disappointment behind them when they visit Newcastle on Saturday night.

The Red Devils’ 3-3 draw with Galatasaray on Wednesday means they must beat Bayern Munich on the final matchday of the group stage just to stand a chance of going through to the knockout phase of the competition.

United have benefitted from a kind fixture list in the Premier League in recent weeks, earning wins over over bottom half sides Brentford, Sheffield United, Fulham, Luton and Everton to lift Erik ten Hag’s side up to sixth.

With a much tougher trip to Newcastle on the horizon, here’s the side the Dutchman could deploy after their latest struggle in Europe.

GK: Andre Onana – Picked the wrong time to make his latest costly blunder, beating the ball into his own net to shrink United’s lead over Galatasaray to 3-2 before the equaliser.

RB: Aaron Wan-Bissaka – Wan-Bissaka’s defensive abilities are much greater than the sleepy Diogo Dalot and United look much sturdier with the former Crystal Palace defender back fit.

CB: Harry Maguire – Still keeping Raphael Varane on the bench and scooped a nomination for the Premier League’s November Player of the Month award.

CB: Victor Lindelof – Getting plenty of game time now with Lisandro Martinez injured and Varane dropped in favour of Maguire, having previously admitted he could leave Old Trafford.

LB: Luke Shaw – Sergio Reguilon could feature if Ten Hag decides Shaw needs time to rest having just come back from injury, though the Englishman has performed well since returning.

CM: Scott McTominay – Netted his fourth club goal of the season in Turkey and should start again with bigger names like Casemiro and Christian Eriksen out injured.

CM: Kobbie Mainoo – Impressed in his outing at Goodison Park last week and would offer more composure in possession than workhorse Sofyan Amrabat.

RW: Marcus Rashford – Was suspended in midweek but ended an eight-game goal drought for club and country with a penalty against Everton.

AM: Bruno Fernandes – An assist for Garnacho’s opener and a blockbuster from distance from United‘s captain did not prove enough for victory in Turkey, but a similar contribution here from Fernandes could help the Red Devils beat their top four rivals.

LW: Alejandro Garnacho – Backed up his ridiculous overhead kick with his first ever Champions League goal and shouldn’t drop out of the starting XI.

ST: Rasmus Hojlund – Managed 60 minutes on his return from injury but only produced one blocked shot. Still waiting for his first Premier League goal.
