Man Utd to play Atletico Madrid in pre-season friendly in Oslo

But they will return to the Scandinavian country to face La Liga outfit Atletico on July 30, exactly three years since their last outing in Oslo.

Diego Simeone’s side knocked Man Utd out of this season’s Champions League at the last 16 stage. Ralf Rangnick’s men earned a credible 1-1 draw in the first leg at the Wanda Metropolitano, but fell to a 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford. Man City would then eliminate Atletico in the quarter-finals.

Listen now to 90min’s Manchester United podcast, The Promised Land, with Scott Saunders & Rob Blanchette. On this week’s show they discuss the latest news surrounding the club including a discussion regarding Ten Hag’s arrival and his Ronaldo hint.

Erik ten Hag‘s first pre-season in charge of Man Utd is set to be a busy one, with the Dutchman recently revealing that his new squad will return to Carrington on June 27.

They will then jet off to Thailand for their first friendly of the summer against rivals Liverpool on July 12, before travelling to Australia for games against Melbourne Victory (July 15), Crystal Palace (July 19) and Aston Villa (July 23).
