Each year the Masters at Augusta brings us a number of special moments, and the 2021 tournament is no different as Rory McIlroy struck his father with a ball.
The Northern Irishman had hit the ball to the left of the fairway on seventh hole, and with his second stroke aimed for the green but instead could only thumb the leg of hi father Gerry.
Incidentally, Gerry won 220,000 euros when he placed a bet when Rory was 15 years old, that he would win the British Open before he turned 25. Which of course he managed.
Currently four over par with two holes remaining, McIlroy is on his way to his worst ever Masters start.
