Juventus have released a statement confirming that Matthijs De Ligt has tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the Old Lady’s Serie A game against Sassuolo.
The Dutch centre-back has missed a total of eight games already in the first stretch of the 2020/21 course due to a shoulder injury and will be sidelined for Sunday’s encounter too.
“Juventus Football Club announces that, during the checks provided for by the protocol in force, Matthijs De Ligt has emerged positive with Covid 19,” read Juventus‘ statement which was published on their official website.
“The player has already been placed in solitary confinement.”
