Roma 4-3 Spezia Fonseca praised the Spaniard
Borja Mayoral netted a brace to help Roma to a 4-3 victory over Spezia in Serie A on Saturday afternoon, and afterwards he stressed that strikers are used to having good and bad games in terms of scoring.
Specifically, Mayoral recalled the three big chances he wasted in the previous game between the two sides last Tuesday, when Spezia knocked Roma out of the Coppa Italia.
“I’m ready to help the team,” Mayoral told Sky Sport Italia after Saturday’s victory.
“Whenever I can play, I try to help. I scored two goals, but in the last game I missed [chances]; this is the life of a striker.
“I think this game was very important because of everything that is happening. We fought a lot and we won, which is the most important thing.
“We are together, we work together all week, we know that we have lost two tough games, but we are together.”
Meanwhile, Mayoral‘s coach, Paulo Fonseca, praised his striker’s performances in both games against Spezia ,despite the Spaniard’s lack of a clinical touch in the Coppa Italia duel.
“Mayoral played a good game in the Coppa Italia, but he just did not score,” Fonseca told Sky Sport Italia.
“Today he played another good game again. Borja is in good form. I am glad that after the Coppa Italia game he scored two goals.”
