Ligue 1 Looking to former club
It’s been clear for a while that Kylian Mbappe isn’t necessarily convinced he should stay at Paris Saint-Germain, and following Mauricio Pochettino‘s arrival, it’s been mooted that the French prodigy can leave the club with the Argentine coach having a player in mind to replace him.
This will be music to Real Madrid‘s ears, with Los Blancos having long been suitors of the World Cup winning forward, and they may not even have to wait until he’s available on a free transfer in 2022.
Leonardo was cautious when discussing Mbappe‘s future earlier in the transfer window, suggesting that players who really want to stay at the Parc des Princes will do so.
“We just have to find an agreement between the player’s wishes, demands and our own expectations and means,” Leonardo explained.
“We aren’t going to beg and say please stay. Those who really want to stay will stay, and I have a good feeling with those two players [Mbappe and Neymar].”
Pochettino, though, is far more relaxed about the situation and if everything explodes and Mbappe decides to leave, the former Tottenham Hotspur coach would seek the signing of Harry Kane from his old club.
According to El Chiringuito de Jugones, Pochettino has already asked PSG’s hierarchy to pursue the signing if Mbappe departs.
