Fernando Alonso accident Friends, competitors and politicians
The world of sport has gathered to support Fernando Alonso after the Spanish driver was hit by a vehicle while cycling in Switzerland.
The first to send their best wishes was Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz, a fellow Spaniard on the grid.
“We hope it’s nothing and you recover as soon as possible,” Sainz posted.

Spanish politicians, including Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and Minister for Sport Irene Lozano also sent messages.
“We hope that the injuries from the accident are minimal,” posted Sanchez.
