Modric to Pique: You’re waiting to complain, eh?

Luka Modric and Gerard Pique crossed paths as the Real Madrid midfielder made his way off the pitch, with the Barcelona centre-back having come down from the stands to wait on the sidelines.

However, Modric realised that Pique was going to do more than just give the players coming off a high five.

“You’re waiting for the referee to complain, eh?” Modric said to Pique.

“Well, four minutes [only for added time]…” Pique replied.

“How many more do you want?” Modric responded, as he threw his arm up in the air in disbelief.

Real Madrid have not understood Barcelona‘s attitude, especially in relation to the Martin Braithwaite incident at the end of the game. They believe that if this is a penalty, so is the one on Vinicius Junior earlier in the half.

“I don’t think the referee was decisive [with regard to the end result],” Zinedine Zidane said.

Regarding the added time, Jesus Gil Manzano added two minutes for the substitutions and three due to the problems he had with his earpiece.

What’s more, Real Madrid could argue that in the first half, Gil Manzano did not blow his whistle until Barcelona had taken a corner kick, despite the two minutes of allotted added time being up.

None of this is what Pique or Ronald Koeman want to hear, though, as they tried to make the referee the centre of attention.
