NBA Meetings are planned
In what is becoming a blanket issue against all sports at this time, the NBA is battling against a rise in cases of COVID-19 within its ranks, and there could even be a two-week suspension of matches as a result.
With three regular season games having been postponed already this week, the top brass of the league are set to consider the possibility that suspending the league will be the best course of action.
According to information from Jason Dumas, Tuesday will see a meeting between the owners of teams, which could have a huge influence on the next step taken by the league.
League representatives and General Managers from 30 NBA teams are also set to debate the next course of action in the coming days.
There isn’t a desire at this juncture to halt the season, but merely a realisation that it may become unavoidable, especially If cases keep on rising.
“We will continue to be guided by our medical experts and the health and safety protocols already in place,” an NBA statement read.
The NFL has been able to reach the playoffs of their season with only minor interruptions due to COVID-19, but with the current situation and the emergence of a variant of the deadly virus, the NBA might not be afforded the same luxury.
