Nuno Espirito Santo confirms Harry Kane has returned to training

Nuno Espirito Santo has confirmed that Harry Kane has begun pre-season training with Tottenham.

Last week Kane failed to return to training as expected following a short holiday, with reports soon emerging that he did so in order to force through a move to Manchester City. He has since denied that was the case, though.

Espirito Santo provided an update on Kane following his side’s pre-season victory over Arsenal, revealing that the striker has returned to the group.

“Harry is with us. He has to quarantine, he’s in the lodge but he’s training. He already made the first day with the sports science. He’s with us. Good,” he said, via Dan Kilpatrick.

The Spurs boss added that he would be holding talks with Kane on Monday at the club’s training complex.

“We have to be really careful. I will speak with Harry ASAP because he’s already at the lodge. Not today, today was a match but we have a training session tomorrow. Social distanced, hopefully I will speak with Harry,” he said.

Kane believes he has a gentleman’s agreement in place with the club to sell him this summer but Spurs disagree. As 90min reported last month, Daniel Levy is angered by stories linking his prized asset with a Spurs exit and has no intention of selling the player.

City have already tabled one bid for his services and may need to sell players before they step up their pursuit. They recently secured a British record £100m deal for Jack Grealish and Bernardo Silva is among those who could be moved on to fund another new arrival.

Regardless of whether he leaves or not, Kane will not feature in Tottenham’s Premier League curtain raiser against (ironically) City on Sunday 15 August, as he will not be match fit following his Euro 2020 exploits.
