Panama vs Canada: TV channel, live stream, team news & prediction

Canada will head down to Panama on Wednesday in a celebratory mood having already qualified for their first World Cup since 1986.

The Canucks beat Jamaica 4-0 in front of a sold-out BMO Field on Sunday, maintaining their place at the top of the Concacaf table and clinching their place at Qatar 2022 in style.

As for Panama, they’re playing purely for pride after being eliminated from automatic and playoff contention with a resounding 5-1 defeat to the United States on Sunday night. Los Canaleros started the campaign well but faded fast and have won just one of their last five matches.

Still, this could turn out to be quite an entertaining match with both teams letting off the handbrake. Read on for team news, broadcast details, head-to-head records, and more:

When is kick-off? Wednesday, 30 March, 9:05pm (EST)

There may be some rotation from Panama but, on the whole, they’ll field a strong XI to pick up a win and restore some pride against the group leaders.

Panama predicted XI: Mosquera; Davis, Cordoba, Escobar, Cummings; Godoy, Medina; Gondola, Yanis, Barcenas; Waterman.

John Herdman made a few adjustments against Jamaica and may be tempted to do so again with qualification already assured. Still, the Canucks are looking to absolutely confirm top spot in the group and at least in the attacking third, will put out another strong team.

Canada predicted XI: Crepeau; Laryea, Miller, Cornelius, Adekugbe; Eustaquio, Kone; Buchanan, David, Hoilett; Larin.

Canada cruised to a 4-1 win over Panama earlier in this qualification campaign but in 13 overall meetings between the two nations so far, eight have finished in a draw – including six 0-0 stalemates.

Panama have only ever beaten Canada once – 2-0 back in September 2012 – while the Canucks have four wins to their name.

This game could go one of two ways. Either both sides will play out a drab, lifeless affair for fear of picking up a needless injury, or they’ll go all for it with the pressure off and pride at stake. Hopefully, it’s the latter.

And if that is the case, Canada are far more equipped to win in an end-to-end punch-up with the likes of Cyle Larin, Jonathan David, and Tajon Buchanan within their ranks.

Prediction: Panama 0-3 Canada
