Paul Pierce sacked by ESPN after controversial Instagram Live video

Boston Celtics legend Paul Pierce was sacked by ESPN on Monday night after an Instagram Live video that he published on the previous Friday night.

The video captured the 43-year-old in a drunken state with scantily clad women, who could be strippers, around him and his friends while they played poker, while he also posted a photo of himself smoking what appeared to be marijuana.

Pierce had been at ESPN since 2017 and was a regular on ‘NBA Countdown’ and ‘The Jump’.

Once word had got out that Pierce had been sacked, the retired small forward posted a simple four-second video that said “Smile”, as well as the message, “Big Things coming soon stay tuned make sure u smile #Truthshallsetufree.”

Pierce, nicknamed ‘the Truth‘, will be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame this year.
