90min has been informed that, while nothing has been signed, it is now a ‘formality’ Neville will take charge of Inter Miami, after club owner and fellow Class of 92 star David Beckham convinced him to take the plunge.

Neville has been looking at opportunities and has had numerous approaches from around the world since it was announced he would be leaving his role as the Lionesses’ coach.

Negotiations with Beckham, who is a co-owner of Salford City with Neville, included the topic of further investment and the addition of more star names to Inter’s roster. They are already one of the biggest spenders in MLS, with former Juventus and Real Madrid star Gonzalo Higuain joining the club last year.

A source close to 90min revealed: “David Beckham has cleared the deal with his partners at Miami, and it has been agreed – nothing has been signed yet, but it is believed that is now a formality and that Neville will take charge.”

Diego Alonso was recently relieved of his duties as Inter Miami manager, having taken charge of the club’s maiden season in MLS. Despite the summer’s high-profile arrivals, the club endured a torrid start to the campaign, losing all of their opening five games.

Their form picked up a little after a turbulent opening to the season, though they could still only muster a disappointing tenth place finish in the Eastern Conference. The poor showing ultimately cost Alonso his job.
