Premier League The lowest since mid-December
The Premier League announced on Monday that eight members of the English top flight have tested positive for COVID-19 in the latest round of tests carried out.
A total of 2,518 individuals were tested between January 18 and 24, with the eight positive cases being the lowest figure since the week between December 14 and 20, as the Premier League has confirmed.
The peak came on January 5, when as many as 40 people tested positive for coronavirus. This was more than double the highest figure since that point (18 at the end of 2020).
Clubs such as Manchester City confirmed in that period that up to nine players of their squad had contracted COVID-19.
