Alcoyano vs Real Madrid Modric and Varane rested
Zinedine Zidane has named a 20-man squad for Real Madrid‘s Copa del Rey tie away at Alcoyano on Wednesday night, which surprisingly does not include Martin Odegaard.
It was thought that the Norwegian playmaker might get some game time against the Segunda B outfit, but despite training with his teammates on Tuesday, he will not even travel with the squad for this last-32 tie.
Zidane has used this match as an opportunity to give Luka Modric and Raphael Varane some rest, as they have hardly had a break in recent weeks. The French centre-back suffered a concussion in the Supercopa de Espana semi-final against Athletic Club and had to be replaced at half time by Nacho Fernandez.
The notable additions to the squad list are Victor Chust and Antonio Blanco, who could make their Real Madrid debuts against Alcoyano.
Goalkeepers: Thibaut Courtois, Andriy Lunin, Diego Altube.
Defenders: Eder Militao, Nacho Fernandez, Marcelo, Alvaro Odriozola, Ferland Mendy, Victor Chust.
Midfielders: Toni Kroos, Casemiro, Fede Valverde, Isco, Antonio Blanco.
Forwards: Eden Hazard, Karim Benzema, Marco Asensio, Lucas Vazquez, Vinicius Junior, Mariano Diaz.
