Robert Lewandowski’s agent claims there has been ‘no contact’ over new Bayern Munich contract

The agent of Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has confirmed he is yet to speak with anybody at the club over a new contract.

The 33-year-old, who is widely seen as perhaps the greatest striker in the world right now, has entered the final 18 months of his contract and is keen to sort out an extension to end his career in Munich.

However, that extension has yet to arrive and Lewandowski is known to be less than impressed by the situation.

Sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic recently claimed Bayern would ‘do everything’ to tie his future down, but Lewandowski questioned those claims to Spox by stating he had yet to see any sign of that desire.

Now, agent Pini Zahavi confirmed to kicker: “There hasn’t been any contact with FC Bayern yet.”

90min understands Bayern are looking at signing Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland this summer and would be prepared to offload Lewandowski if they land the Norwegian. Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal are among the sides hoping to offer Lewandowski an escape route.

Club CEO Oliver Kahn recently found himself embroiled in a war of words with the legendary Lotthar Matthaus, who took aim at Bayern’s lack of urgency when it comes to extending Lewandowski’s contract.

“As far as the talks are concerned, I’m very relaxed,” Kahn said of Lewandowski’s future. “We won’t let ourselves be put under pressure from outside.”
