Sevilla Players have caused fury after group gathering
Images on social media of Sevilla quartet Ever Banega, Lucas Ocampos, Mudo Vazquez and Luuk de Jong gathering in a group of more than 10 people have sparked an angry reaction.
The Sevilla players apologised on Sunday for gathering in a larger group than permitted and for not maintaining the social distancing measures outlined in LaLiga’s protocol for the resumption of the competition.
On Sunday, Javier Tebas sent a letter to clubs to remind them of the correct conduct.
“In the last few hours, we have detected that some players have disobeyed health rules, sharing this on social media, showing a relaxation as we reach this final stage of the journey,” the letter said.
“These attitudes are incomprehensible and inadmissible, as they put finishing our competition at risk.
“Any sign of relaxation is a lack of respect for LaLiga, for the clubs, for players and for coaches.”
Spanish football depends economically upon completing the season and any risks to this have angered the authorities.
