Shock in the NBA: Curry misses the playoffs for second straight year

There was a surprise in the NBA Play-In Tournament as the Memphis Grizzlies clinched the eighth seed in the West, leaving Steph Curry and the Warriors without playoff action for the second straight season.

Golden State, who ended the regular season in eighth place in the West, lost out to LeBron and the Lakers in their first Play-In Tournament game, but had a second chance against Memphis, who knocked out San Antonio in their first game.

Despite home court advantage and a big night from Curry (39 points), however, it is the Grizzlies who will be facing the Utah Jazz in round one of the Playoffs.

Led by the 2020 Rookie of the Year, Ja Morant, Memphis overcame the Warriors 117-112 after an intense overtime period.

Morant ended the game with 35 points (including a career-best five three-pointers), six rebounds and six assists and will now get his first taste of the Playoffs against the Jazz.

After Draymond Green missed a chance to win the game at the end of regular time, it was Morant who shone once again in overtime.

The young guard made a great play to put Memphis out of reach with just 4.5 seconds left on the clock and cut the Warriors’ season short.

Memphis and their young team return to the playoffs and do so for the first time ever without a player named Gasol on the roster.
