Southampton vs Leicester: TV channel, live stream, team news & prediction

Leicester City return to the scene of one of their greatest victories on Wednesday night, when they travel to the St Mary’s Stadium to face Southampton.

There is unlikely to be a repeat of a 9-0 scoreline this time around, but the Foxes are still slight favourites heading into the game.

Southampton were hit with several damaging absences during their 4-0 defeat to Liverpool last time out.

Moussa Djenepo and Mohamed Elyounoussi were both absent for personal reasons but should be back for this one, while Jack Stephens (hamstring) is also in contention again.

Stuart Armstrong remains out, while there are doubts over the fitness of Ibrahima Diallo too.

Ryan Bertrand

Leicester continue to fare without talisman Youri Tielemans, who has a calf problem, while long-term absentees James Justin and Wesley Fofana are still a way off returning.

Ryan Bertrand was conspicuously absent against Watford at the weekend and could return to face his former club, while Ricardo Pereira is less likely to play due to a thigh issue.

Southampton (4-4-2): McCarthy; Livramento, Bednarek, Salisu, Walker-Peters; Redmond, Ward-Prowse, Romeu, Elyounoussi; Armstrong, Adams.

Leicester 4-2-3-1: Schmeichel; Castagne, Evans, Soyuncu, Thomas; Ndidi, Soumare; Lookman, Maddison, Barnes, Vardy.

Sorry Saints fans. It is impossible to complete this section without talking about that 9-0 defeat back in 2019. It remains the joint-highest defeat in Premier League history.

Since then, Southampton’s record against Leicester isn’t bad. They beat the Foxes in the return fixture later that season before falling to back-to-back defeats in the Premier League and FA Cup last campaign.

The most recent meeting between the pair ended 1-1 – a result which seriously dented Leicester’s top four hopes.

With James Maddison playing himself back into form and Leicester having a deeper squad to call upon than their opponents, the Foxes have to be considered favourites here.

Southampton still have one of two important players working their way back to full fitness too, though they still have enough to cause a shaky Foxes backline problems.

Prediction: Southampton 1-3 Leicester
