Spain Was asked to name a standout player
Zinedine Zidane recently stated in an interview that one player he’ll say he was proud to coach once he retires is Toni Kroos.
During a press conference with the Spanish national team on Saturday, Luis Enrique was asked for his response to the same question.
The Asturian explained that he didn’t like to highlight individual players, before coming up with a surprise pick by selecting Nolito.
“That’s not really my thing,” he started.
“I’ve coached many players, some better and some worse.
“What I’d like is for me to have made them better, although I’m sure I haven’t managed that in many cases.
“If I have to pick one then I’d say Nolito.
“I’ve always got on well with him, ever since we were together at Segunda B level.
“So it could be Nolito, why not?”
Nolito and Luis Enrique coincided at Barcelona B in Spain’s third tier and at Celta Vigo in the top division.
