FC Barcelona – La Liga Questioned board’s stance
Hristo Stoichkov has called on Barcelona‘s incoming board to be more cautious in offering Lionel Messi at new contract at the club.
Recently it was revealed that the Argentine has earned some 555 million euros on his current four-year deal, which expires in the summer.
“Messi has never forced anyone to sign a contract of that size,” Stoichkov told BeIN Sports.
“The next Barcelona president has to offer Leo something concrete.”
The former Barcelona striker also analysed the Catalans’ form going into Tuesday’s Champions League tie with Paris Saint-Germain.
“The thrashing of Alaves is important in terms of recovering that winning mentality at Barcelona,” Stoichkov added.
“I played with [Ronald] Koeman for five years. I know him well and I have faith in him. Having a coach who has played football and played for Barcelona is important. The young players have to learn [from him].”
