Football A Russian tops the list
Curiously, Barcelona captain Lionel Messi does not top the list of the most loyal players across Europe’s major leagues.
That spot goes to CSKA Moscow goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev, after having spent almost 18 years at the Russian club.
Aged 34, Akinfeev took his first footballing steps at CSKA Moscow‘s youth academy and has spent his entire life plying his trade for his beloved club since.
Meanwhile, Messi, who comes second in Transfermarkt’s list, has been at Barcelona for almost 17 years since moving to Europe from Newell’s Old Boys at the age of 13.
The top three is completed by West Ham legend Mark Noble who has played at his boyhood club for the last 16 years.
