Atletico Madrid vs Chelsea | Champions League Hasn’t yet scored in Europe
Luis Suarez‘s arrival at Atletico Madrid has been fantastic for the club, and his 16 LaLiga Santander goals have helped the team to the top of the standings, yet the one blot on his resume with the club so far is a lack of European production.
With the Champions League returning with the visit of Chelsea on Tuesday, Diego Simeone is hopeful that Suarez makes his first meaningful contribution to the team’s continental campaign, which is strange when you think how clinical he has been for Atleti this term.
Suarez has played four matches in the tournament thus far, totalling 312 minutes, and he was on the pitch for the two defeats against Bayern Munich and Lokomotiv Moscow.
Atleti need Suarez to take a step forward against Chelsea and bring his league form to the table, especially because should they progress to the quarter-final stage they will have to pay Barcelona a further two million euros, as per the transfer deal which brought Suarez to Madrid.
