Real Madrid – La Liga MARCA readers vote on club matters
Real Madrid fans believe Zinedine Zidane should have left the club after overseeing their 2-1 defeat to Alcoyano in the Copa del Rey.
The humiliating exit at the hands of the Segunda B side has left very little place to hide for the head coach, though the supporters have also lumped some of the blame on the players.
In a survey, MARCA asked its readers a number of questions, including whether Zidane should or should not still be in a job.
A resounding 70 precent of voters said that Zidane‘s time as Real Madrid boss should have ended following the loss to Alcoyano.
Readers also came to conclusion that the Frenchman should be the one to make the decision, with 67 percent of voters saying it should be Zidane himself who resigns, rather than the club sacking him.
However, when it came to the Alcoyano match alone, 39 percent of voters said that the players were the ones most responsible for the defeat.
That figure was followed by 36 percent of votes for the make-up of the squad, with Zidane only being at fault for 25 percent of voters.
As for those who played at El Collao, Isco (25 percent of voters), Marcelo (19 percent) and Vinicius Junior (17 percent) were singled out as the worst performers.
Finally, if Zidane was to get sacked as Real Madrid boss, 44 percent of voters want Raul Gonzalez, currently in charge of Castilla, to replace him.
