Angel Di Maria and his family suffered a terrifying Sunday. The Argentine’s house was broken into while he was playing for Paris Saint-Germain against Nantes, and his family were inside at the time.
Di Maria was taken off for Leandro Paredes and was informed of the incident as he left the pitch, with Mauricio Pochettino walking him into the tunnel.
Teammate Marquinhos suffered a similar scare, as his parents’ house was broken into and L’Equipe reported that the criminals even momentarily kidnapped those inside the house. Again, the Brazilian was informed at the end of the game against Nantes.
But this isn’t the first time a PSG player has been the victim of a robbery.
Jewellery, watches and clothes were taken on January 30, with the No.9 on his way to take on Lorient. The items taken were valued at around 400,000 euros.
Just days earlier on January 22, Sergio Rico‘s house was burgled. Objects, watches and jewellery were stolen to a value to 25,000 euros.
The PSG captain had had a previous scare as well while facing Monaco on January 12, 2020. Four hooded men tried to raid his house but were unable to because the home’s security guard quickly notified the police.
In February 2019, Dani Alves‘ house was robbed during a PSG game against Montpellier.
In March 2019, the left-back escaped being a victim of a break-in thanks to his neighbours. They quickly intervened when they noticed something happening and scared four hooded men away.
Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting
He had two attempted robberies. The first came on November 28, 2018, while he was playing against Liverpool, and another on December 24 that same year. In total, he had items valuing 600,000 euros stolen.
On December 22, 2018, thieves took a safe from his house that contained around 1.5 million euros worth of items.
