Real Madrid – La Liga Spoke about Bernabeu exit and future
Theo Hernandez is enjoying life at AC Milan after making the switch from the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu to the San Siro and is playing an important role in Stefano Pioli‘s side this season.
He has stood out offensively for the Italian side and has contributed five goals already this campaign and after his side’s draw with Red Star Belgrade in the Europa League, the Frenchman spoke about his time at Real Madrid.
Hernandez firmly believes that he made the right decision to leave Madrid and think both himself and Achraf Hakimi have grown since leaving Los Blancos.
“Achraf and I weren’t playing much at Madrid and the best thing for us was to leave,” he told DAZN.
“If you’re there and you don’t play, you’re not happy and you don’t have the opportunities that you’d like.
“We did our best and now we’re here in Milan”.
Next Sunday the pair will be reunited in the Milan derby in Serie A.
“Achraf is an incredible player, he’s got talent, speed and quality. We’re both quite similar,” said Hernandez about his old teammate.
“I know him personally and we’ve spent a lot of time together. He’s a great guy and a good friend of mine.
“What will I say to him during the derby? I won’t say anything. On the pitch we’re enemies but off it we’re good friends”.
Theo is also hoping for a call up to the French national side.
“I have to work every day and wait for the call-up,” he commented.
“I don’t feel Spanish, I’m French.
“It’s true that I lived in Spain when I was young, but that doesn’t mean anything.
“I was born in France, my family is in France and I’m French.”
