News Announced intentions via Twitter
A mere 12 days before his term comes to an end, United States president Donald Trump has announced on Friday that he will not attend the inauguration of Joe Biden on January 20.
Trump will be the first president since Andrew Johnson (1865-1869) not to attend the inauguration of his successor as traditionally president and president-elect go together to the Capitol for the ceremony as a symbol of a peaceful transition.
“To all of those who have asked, I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th,” Trump announced on Twitter.
It was expected, as for months Trump has declared that he won the United States president election, citing widespread voter fraud as the reason he was denied a landslide victory.
To all of those who have asked, I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th.
