Valencia Defends Garay’s position

Santi Canizares has defended Ezequiel Garay after the Argentine gave his version of events of his treatment at Valencia, and has claimed that the Argentine is the victim of a smear campaign within the club.
The legendary former goalkeeper has spoken out against what has happened and attacked club president Anil Murthy and majority shareholder Peter Lim’s way of running the club.
“Disgracefully none of this is a surprise, Valencia doesn’t deserve to have these people in charge,” said Canizares after looking at the case of Garay,” he tweeted.
“People appreciate it when you show your face and give your own side of the story.
“I don’t doubt that [Garay] is telling the truth.
“Was it the best way to do it? Everyone does what they think is best.
“I wasn’t totally happy about it, but that isn’t important,” wrote Canizares.
The goalkeeper is a Valencia icon, but is also a pundit and his opinion carries a lot of weight in and around Los Che.
One fan replied suggesting that the club are using Cesar Sanchez as sporting director for these kinds of decisions.
“They’d do the same with anyone else,” replied Canizares.
The ex-goalkeeper has been one of the harshest critics of Valencia this season, slamming them for the surprise dismissal of Marcelino after just three league games, and also criticised Albert Celades for accepting the role of head coach.
Canizares accused Murthy in October of blocking a project which was aimed at funding research into childhood cancer in retaliation to comments he made criticising Lim’s management.
