Papu Gomez and Lionel Messi stayed talking on the pitch at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan after Sevilla’s 2-0 win over Barcelona in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday night, and they were soon joined by fellow Argentines Lucas Ocampos and Marcos Acuna, who were both unavailable due to injury.
The conversation between the four Argentina internationals lasted a long time, and they could be seen talking amicably. In fact, Ocampos and Acuna travelled with Messi to Argentina in the last international break. They are friends.
Papu revealed what they spoke about, beginning with the conversation just between himself and Messi.
“We talked about life. He asked me what had happened at Atalanta and what had caught my attention now that I am in Spain,” Papu told Cope Sevilla.
“We didn’t talk about anything strange… How I was feeling, etc.”
As soon as Ocampos and Acuna approached, the conversation turned to the winger’s ankle injury.
“We also spoke to Lucas about his injury,” Papu continued.
“We love Leo very much; he’s captain of the Argentina national team and we want the best for him.”
However, the former Atalanta star made clear that they did not hear anything about Messi‘s future.
“No, no. Nothing,” Papu responded.
