USA Everything migrants need to know
Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are set to start their terms as president and vice-president of the United States.
The country is facing one of the most extreme and unpredictable security crises it has had to deal with and the president-elect is set to announce profoundly reformed immigration procedures.
Biden will be inaugurated on January 20, just two weeks after the remarkable attack on the US Capitol by a pro-Donald Trump mob.
The new proposal must be presented to congress within 100 days of his administration starting. He aims to reduce the waiting time for US citizenship for more than 11 million undocumented people residing in the country.
It has been suggested that the immigration staff be updated in order to speed up the process of granting a Green Card and to completely cut a two-year process out of the procedure.
Biden and Harris hope to take a “more intelligent and humane approach to immigration”.
