Australian Open Some players confined to rooms
The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) have created a 500 tour tournament for players to compete in ahead of the Australian Open.
A large number of players have been forced to self-isolate after arriving in Melbourne after people they were travelling with tested positive for coronavirus.
Those confined to their rooms have not been able to train properly ahead of the first Grand Slam of the year.
The WTA, though, have come to their rescue, offering professionals who have had to self-isolate the chance to compete in a 500 tour competition from February 3 to February 7. The Australian Open starts on February 8.
