Real Madrid – La Liga Still negotiating
Sergio Ramos’ contract negotiations with Real Madrid are continuing at a slow pace, causing much consternation amongst fans of the club, yet Zinedine Zidane was unable to give a committal answer when asked if the Spanish defender’s situation was going to end up like that of Cristiano Ronaldo.
A dispute over contract promises all but sealed Ronaldo‘s departure to Juventus after a trophy-laden career in the Spanish capital, and fans are afraid that they will lose yet another talismanic figure.
“Are we going to have a Cristiano case? I don’t know what will happen with Ramos,” Zidane explained in his pre-match press conference.
“He is here with us at the moment.
“We’re just focused on tomorrow’s game.”
Karim Benzema is a player also causing headaches for Zidane, not for his performances on the pitch, but the fact the forward has been called to trial in the case involving Mathieu Valbuena and the infamous sex-tape.
“He has my full support,” he added.
“This is not an easy situation, that’s clear, but I see that he is fine and concentrating on his work.
“I hope that this will get fixed for everyone, Karim works hard and that’s what he enjoys doing.”
Snow is very much on the agenda in Spain this week, with Los Blancos forced to travel to Pamplona a day earlier than planned to avoid a predicted snowstorm.
With that said, Zidane doesn’t believe that the weather will have an impact on his players, but he is less clear on whether the match will definitively go ahead as planned.
“It’s true we don’t know what will happen tomorrow, the storm isn’t going to impact the line-up, Hazard, for example, is used to this because he played in London,” he declared.
“We’re going to prepare for the match as normal, but it will definitely be a different type of game.
“If it can be played, we will play.”
