Europa League group stage draw: Man Utd & Arsenal learn confirmed opponents

The Europa League group stage draw for the 2022/23 season has been completed and Manchester United and Arsenal have learned their opponents.

The Premier League duo are among the favourites to win the trophy, which was claimed by Eintracht Frankfurt last season with a win in the final against Rangers.

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have been drawn against PSV Eindhoven, Bodo/Glimt and Zurich.

The Gunners faced PSV quite regularly in the Champions League during the 2000s, with their last meeting resulting in the north London side being knocked out of the competition at the last 16 stage in 2007.

Arsenal have never previously faced Bodo/Glimt, who have reached the group stage of the Europa League for the first time ever, or Zurich.

As for Man Utd, they’ve been paired up with Real Sociedad, Sheriff Tiraspol and Omonoia.

The Red Devils met Spanish outfit Sociedad in the 2013/14 Champions League group stage, winning and drawing a game apiece in two games which featured just one goal in total.

They have never played Moldovan side Sheriff – who earned a shock 2-1 win at Real Madrid last season – or 2021/22 Cypriot Cup winners Omonoia before.
