The US women’s national team takes on Sweden in the round of 16 match on Sunday in Melbourne, Australia.
It’ll be the sixth World Cup meeting between the two nations since 2003, with the American side holding the edge with a 3W-1D-1L record. But head coach Vlatko Andonovski must alter the starting lineup in order to keep the winning streak going, after two consecutive disappointing results in the group stage.

Though the manager is a man of few changes, as seen during the infamous one substitute game against the Netherlands, we should expect some new names.
GK: Alyssa Naeher – Another shutout in the group stage. She stays no question.
RB: Emily Fox – Again, no changes here.
CB: Julie Ertz – Not that she hasn’t been working, but we are once again asking for Ertz to be moved to the midfield and replaced by Alana Cook as the center-back. But as that likely won’t happen, we can expect a Girma-Ertz CB pairing once again.
CB: Naomi Girma – Potentially the only figure to put in a good performance against Portugal. She absolutely stays.
LB: Kelley O’Hara – Time to bring the experience into the starting line up. A rock solid O’Hara should replace Dunn.
CM: Savannah DeMelo – With no Lavelle available against Sweden due to yellow card accumulation, DeMelo gets the start.
DM: Andi Sullivan – Again, this position should go to Ertz but Andonovski will likely stay with what he knows.
CM: Lindsey Horan (c) – No changes here.
RW: Sophia Smith – She stays on the wing,
ST: Alex Morgan – The midfield must straight playing through the center to reach Alex Morgan. Despite heavy action on the wings against Portugal, the veteran will look to make an impact vs Sweden.
LW: Lynn Williams – She finally made her World Cup debut. The player generated enough during her time on the pitch to win over the slot from Trinity Rodman.
